It's a Wrap: 2018 COCC St Tropez to Monaco Ride Recap

Well, that’s a wrap for another year.

Four days on and our legs (and bottoms) are starting to feel somewhat back to normal.

Over 100 riders completed the 140km between St Tropez to Monaco on Sunday, May 6th in record time! Which meant that either we didn’t stay at Ma Nolans in Nice long enough or that we were all too keen to get the post-ride celebrations at Stars’N’Bars and Slammers Bar Monaco started.

While at this early stage we’re still calculating the exact amount raised for the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation, the figure is set to be around the €100,000 mark – and you can still make a donation. This brings the total amount raised for charity since we started in 2012 to €700,000. As with last year, proceeds from this year’s ride will be used to fund and maintain a first aid and CPR training complex in Burkina Faso – we’re proud to be associated with this incredible charity that is delivering water awareness to all corners of the globe.

For some of us, the ride started out with oysters in St Tropez on the Saturday afternoon, while others arrived fresh on Sunday morning. We had perfect conditions for the ride; warm but not too hot and with a welcome breeze. Rain couldn’t dampen the finish line celebrations at Star’N’Bars either, although the weather cleared up for the street party at Slammers, as it did for lunch the following day at Anjuna Beach in Eze. We toasted the race in suitable style at both events and music was provided by The Dobies and Eddie Jordan and The Robbers.

All in all, another hugely successful ride.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part in, sponsored and supported the ride and a particularly special merci to Steve Stanway and Graham Godfrey who have been an incredible support crew for the COCC ride for the last seven years.

A little reminder that it’s not too early to start fundraising – and training – for the 2019 edition. We look forward to seeing you all next year!
